No.8 Coastguard Cottages is nestled among a row of cottages that once belonged to coastguards and their families. It might just be one of the most stunning spots in our Cottage Collection! The upstairs sitting room at No.8 boasts wall-to-wall windows that offer breathtaking views of Lulworth Cove.

Our Coastguard Cottages offer the perfect blend of comfort, easy access and a fantastic location in a particularly accessible part of the Jurassic Coast. You’ll be just a stone’s throw from Lulworth Cove, with amazing views of England’s only coastal UNESCO World Heritage Site. The charming village of West Lulworth, along with Stair Hole, the Fossil Forest, Lulworth Crumple and the iconic Durdle Door rock arch, are all within walking distance and connected by the South West Coast Path. This means you’ll find history, safe beaches, action sports, beautiful walks and lovely places to eat and drink right at your doorstep.

If you’re looking to book adjoining cottages, you can also accommodate larger groups, which is especially popular for multi-generational holidays. This cottage is pet-friendly, and we welcome up to two well-behaved dogs. You’ll find food and water bowls, a towel and poo bags for your faithful companions.

To help you make the most of your stay, we’ve put together a welcome folder with all the information you need about the cottage, Lulworth and the area. Our experienced Holiday Team is always happy to give you recommendations for some memorable dining or the best places to pick up local produce. For stays of three nights or more, you’ll also receive a welcome pack on arrival with delicious locally produced bread, eggs, milk, biscuits, jam, tea, coffee and sugar. 

Layout: 

No.8 sleeps up to five people in three bedrooms. On the first floor, you’ll find the master bedroom with a king-size bed and another bedroom with a single bed. The ground floor has another bedroom with a super king-size bed, which can be split into two single beds if needed. Each bedroom has lovely views of the local area. We provide goose down and microfibre pillows, along with luxuriously crisp white Beaumont & Brown linen for your comfort.

There are two bathrooms: one with a shower and WC on the first floor and another on the ground floor with a handheld shower over a bath. A comfortable cotton robe is provided for each person, along with fluffy white towels, Lulworth body wash, hand soap and shampoo.

The living room is on the first floor, perfect for enjoying the incredible views over to Lulworth Cove. The coastal-inspired living room has comfy sofas, cosy window seats, an electric flame effect wood burner, TV and DVD player.

The kitchen area is well-equipped with a double range oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. There is a dining table to seat six, plus a wood burner for cosy evening meals by a roaring fire. Just off the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The rear door leads to your private courtyard and lawn, complete with borders and garden furniture.

Right outside No.8, there is off-road parking for two vehicles in a privately accessed, gated driveway. Plus, you get complimentary parking across the Lulworth Estate, giving you unlimited access to Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Lulworth Castle Park. For day trips further afield, there is a bus stop in West Lulworth village, with links to Poole, Weymouth and Swanage. 

Right in front of the Coastguard Cottages, there’s a lovely grassy spot perfect for picnics and a bit of exercise. From there, you can wander down paths to Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole.

If you head down the pedestrianised street to the left of the car park, you’ll stroll through the village, stopping by its many restaurants, cafes, gift shops, The Doll’s House Confectionery Shop and ice cream kiosks and the highly recommended Boat Shed Cafe before reaching Lulworth Cove. You might even find the beach all to yourself at certain times of the day!

Your holiday includes central heating and good Wi-Fi. Just a heads-up, the phone signal might be a bit spotty, so we’ve got a landline for local calls and would recommend using 'Wi-Fi calling' on your mobile.

Please note: 
No.8 Coastguard Cottages is situated close to the area of the Lulworth Ranges, where military training and live firing may occasionally be heard dependent on wind direction.
Lulworth Castle, parklands and walks will be closed from Friday 17th July to Saturday 8th August 2026 inclusive due to the amazing Camp Bestival, with all other Estate locations open as usual.
