You don't need to imagine a cottage that truly captures the essence of England! This charming Orné-style cottage, with its plaster walls and shutters, dates back to the 18th century and has been lovingly updated to offer modern comforts while keeping its original charm. Just a short one-minute walk from the famous Lulworth Cove, located on England’s only natural UNESCO World Heritage coastline, this thatched cottage is the ideal spot for a special escape. You’ll wake up to the gentle sounds of birds singing in the apple tree and the soothing sound of waves lapping against the beach. Just a heads-up, this cottage is pet-free. 

To make your stay even more enjoyable, we’ve included a welcome folder with all the information you need about the cottage and the local area. Our Holiday Team is also happy to suggest some great places to eat or where to find the best local produce. For stays of three nights or more, you’ll receive a welcome basket filled with locally made bread, eggs, milk, biscuits, jam, tea, coffee and sugar.

Here’s how the cottage is set up: 

Cove Cottage has three bedrooms, each with a luxurious Hypnos bed, and two bathrooms, that can comfortably accommodate six people. We’ve included goose down and microfibre pillows for your comfort, along with crisp white Beaumont & Brown linen. The second and third bedrooms each have two super king beds, which can be converted into single beds if needed. 

The family-sized bathroom on the top floor features a shower over a bath and a heated towel rail. We’ve also provided a comfortable cotton robe for each guest, along with fluffy white towels, Lulworth body wash, hand soap and shampoo. 

In the heart of the cottage, there’s a cosy reading room with comfy seating, a lovely fireplace, a telephone and a well-stocked bookcase. The sitting room, with its sofas and large double-aspect windows, has a state-of-the-art discreet TV and a gas fire log-burner. The dining room, which you can reach from the entrance, has a lovely table for eight right next to a beautiful fireplace. There’s also a boot room where you can easily store your coats, walking shoes and water sports gear. 

Plus, there’s a handy utility room with a washing machine and dryer.

On the first floor, you’ll find a fully-equipped kitchen. It has a dishwasher, a pantry, a fridge-freezer, an electric oven and grill with a four-burner hob. The kitchen opens right onto a quiet, paved terrace with a big table and seating for six — perfect for enjoying a meal outside. The property also has a lovely cottage garden with flowerbeds, mature shrubs, a grass lawn and a sun terrace with a table and chairs by the genuine bubbling spring. It’s a lovely spot to unwind after a day at the beach or water.

Cove Cottage is situated on a pedestrianised street that goes through the village’s restaurants, cafés, gift shops, The Doll’s House Confectionery Shop and ice cream kiosks, all the way down to Lulworth Cove and the highly recommended Boat Shed Cafe. Sometimes, you might even have the beach all to yourself! The property has parking for two cars off the road in a private driveway. Plus, you get free parking across the Lulworth Estate when you give us your car registration numbers, which means you can drive around and visit Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Lulworth Castle Park without any worries. If you want to explore further, there’s a bus stop in West Lulworth village that connects you to Poole, Weymouth and Swanage.

We’ve included central heating and good Wi-Fi for your holiday. The phone signal might not be the best, so we’ve got a landline for local calls and would recommend using 'Wi-Fi calling' on your mobile phone.

We do not recommend this property for families with very small children or those with mobility issues due to its period features, notably the challenging stairs. Cove Cottage is situated close to the area of the Lulworth Ranges, where military training and live firing may be heard dependent on wind direction.
Lulworth Castle, parklands and walks will be closed from Friday 17th July to Saturday 8th August 2026 inclusive for the incredible Camp Bestival but the rest of the area remains fully open.
